How does corrosion affect the readiness, safety, and lifecycle cost of military land platforms? How can engineers and technical decision-makers identify corrosion risks early and make better-informed design choices?
Corrosion in Military Land Platforms is a focused, military-contextualized course that develops corrosion awareness at the system and design level. Rather than emphasizing chemistry or specialist coatings engineering, this course examines corrosion from the perspective that matters most to military organizations: platform performance, durability, maintainability, and operational risk.
The course begins with an introduction to fundamental corrosion mechanisms and the environmental drivers that influence military systems. Participants then examine how additive manufacturing alters traditional corrosion assumptions, including how surface roughness, porosity, microstructure, and post-processing affect corrosion susceptibility.
In the second half of the day, attention shifts to how corrosion presents and interacts with military land platforms. Participants explore how corrosion manifests within that environment, including material interfaces, galvanic risk, moisture traps, operational damage, and sustainment realities.
The day concludes with a structured workshop in which participants evaluate corrosion risks, assess mitigation strategies, and justify design decisions within operational and lifecycle constraints.
Participants receive a full-color printed training binder to support continued application within their organization.
