Welcome to One Defence Capability Systems: Project Planning, Scheduling and Cost Estimating course.

Are you a project manager, capability developer or systems engineer new to the Department of Defence? Are you unsure of how to plan and set up a complex new project, and how to develop a cost estimate?

This self-paced, eight hour, online learning course develops fundamental project planning knowledge to assist you develop better project plans, schedules and risk assessments. You also learn the how to use and navigate your way around the complex 2 pass cost workbook template.

During the course you will learn how to set project objectives, develop work breakdown structures, and allocate work to a project team. You will also learn how to structure and develop a complex cost estimate using the 2 Pass Cost Workbook Template.

As part of the course you receive an e-copy of the course folder, a transcript for each lesson, course presentation slides, and copies of a selected range of great references.

Mark has over 25 years’ experience working on complex projects as a senior professional engineer and project manager. Over the years, he has worked on many large defence major capital acquisition programs both in US, Australia, Middle-east and Europe. In recent years, he has focused on developing a market-leading Institute of Technology and has developed a broad range of niche education and training courses specialising in systems engineering and military vehicle technology. Mark holds an honours degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science (Defence Technology).

Peter has worked in Defence, both in UK and Australia, for 45 years.  He then spent 5 years in the Australian Army before becoming a Defence Civilian in 1996.  In Australia he has worked primarily in the area of major capital projects including the M113 Upgrade Project Office, the DMO project support area and, for the last 12 years of his service, costing projects in the Capability Development Group until its disbandment in 2016. Major Second Pass cost models have included LAND 121 Vehicle Projects, LAND 200 Battlefield Command and Communication Projects, AIR 9000 Helicopter Replacement Projects, amny others.
